Koh Ngai (Koh Hai)
A car-free island with coral reef 10 metres from the beach — Koh Ngai is Trang's most pristine and peaceful island retreat.

About this Place
Koh Ngai (also spelled Koh Hai) is arguably the finest island for total relaxation in Trang province — a small, car-free island with a single long beach of white sand and crystal-clear water facing a fringing coral reef. The reef starts just 10 metres offshore, making it one of Thailand's best snorkeling islands accessible directly from the beach. No roads, no motorbikes, no 7-Elevens. The dozen or so resorts range from backpacker bungalows to mid-range cottages, all within a short walk of the beach. Bioluminescent plankton light up the night water in certain seasons. Longtails connect to nearby Koh Mook (Emerald Cave) and Koh Kradan for day trips. Access via longtail from Pak Meng Pier or direct speedboat tours. The Trang island cluster is consistently rated by backpacker communities as the most pristine in Thailand — Koh Ngai is the jewel.
