Trang Town — Dim Sum & Morning Market
Southern Thailand's best-kept food secret — Trang's morning dim sum coffee shops, Teochew roasted pork, and local satay are unmissable for food travellers.

About this Place
Trang town is an unheralded gem for food travellers — a Southern Thai city with a large Teochew Chinese community that created a unique culinary tradition blending Thai, Malay, and Cantonese influences. Trang is famous for its morning dim sum coffee shops on Ratchadamnoen Road — steamed dumplings, roasted pork, and Chinese tea served alongside uniquely Trang pastries. The famous Trang roasted pork (moo yang) stalls open at 06:00 and sell out by 09:00. The evening night market near the clock tower serves Trang-style satay with turmeric-marinated pork, rice noodle curries, and the local nam phrik (chilli paste). Trang's culinary scene is a revelation compared to more-visited tourist towns. The Trang Railway Station building (1913) and the clock tower are pleasant landmarks. The town serves as the base for island day trips.
