Sanctuary of Truth
A 105-metre all-wood temple of carved mythological art — hand-crafted without nails since 1981, expected to take 500 years to complete.

About this Place
The Sanctuary of Truth is one of Thailand's most extraordinary structures — a towering all-wood temple rising 105 metres from the sea, entirely hand-carved by Thai craftsmen without nails or synthetic materials. Construction began in 1981 and continues today as a permanent artistic work-in-progress, expected to take 500 years to complete. The intricate exterior carvings depict Hindu and Buddhist cosmology, mythological figures, and the four ages of human civilization. The interior halls are equally stunning. Elephant rides, cultural shows, and traditional dance performances are included in the entry ticket. Located in Naklua district, 5km north of central Pattaya. One of the most visually impressive buildings in Southeast Asia — legitimately unlike anything else on earth. Admission high but justified for the scale of the achievement.
