Khao Sok National Park
Ancient rainforest older than the Amazon — Khao Sok's emerald lake, karst towers, jungle treks, and floating raft houses are among Thailand's most unforgettable experiences.

About this Place
Khao Sok National Park contains some of the oldest rainforest on earth — more biodiverse than the Amazon, with trees estimated at 160 million years old. The park's 739 sq km encompasses dramatic limestone karst towers, dense jungle, and the spectacular Cheow Larn Lake — a vast emerald reservoir dotted with floating raft house accommodations. Guided jungle treks reveal gibbons, hornbills, elephants, and the rare Rafflesia kerrii flower (world's largest bloom, up to 80cm diameter). Night safaris on the lake are extraordinary. Canoe and kayaking through flooded limestone caves. Staying overnight on a floating raft house beneath karst cliffs with stars above is one of Thailand's most memorable experiences. Located 100km from Surat Thani between the Gulf and Andaman coasts, making it accessible from both sides. Best visited Dec–Apr.
