Don Sak Ferry Pier (Gateway to Gulf Islands)
The mainland gateway to Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, and Koh Tao — ferries depart daily, with mangrove kayaking and fresh seafood on the pier.

About this Place
Don Sak Pier is the main departure point for ferries to Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, and Koh Tao from the Surat Thani mainland. While not a destination itself, Don Sak is the gateway that nearly every island-bound traveller passes through on the east coast route. The pier area has a modest market, seafood restaurants serving fresh Gulf of Thailand catches, and views across to the islands. Raja Ferry and Songserm operate regular car and passenger ferries. Night trains from Bangkok arrive at Surat Thani station, connecting to minibuses for the 1-hour pier transfer. Budget travellers can save significantly versus flying into Koh Samui airport. The surrounding coast offers mangrove kayaking tours through Don Sak's channels, an underrated and peaceful alternative activity in the area.
