About Saraburi

Saraburi – Overview

Saraburi is one of Central Thailand's most underrated provinces, a place where the flat rice plains of the Chao Phraya basin begin to rise into the limestone foothills of the Khorat Plateau. For vloggers and content creators based in Bangkok, this conveniently located province delivers natural scenery, temple visits, and seasonal attractions that provide solid day-trip and weekend content without the long journey times associated with northern or northeastern destinations.

Saraburi – Nature & Sightseeing

Located approximately 110 kilometers northeast of Bangkok along the main highway to Isan, Saraburi occupies a geographic transition zone that gives it more topographic variety than most Central Thai provinces. The western districts are flat agricultural land typical of the Central Plains, while the eastern portion rises into forested limestone hills that form the edge of the Khorat Plateau. The Pasak River runs through the province, and the Pa Sak Jolasid Dam on the Lopburi border creates an attractive reservoir area. Elevation ranges from around 20 meters in the lowlands to over 600 meters in the Dong Phayayen mountain range to the east.

Saraburi – Local Life

The most popular natural attraction is the Muak Lek and Saraburi waterfall district in the eastern hills. Namtok Chet Sao Noi National Park features a seven-tiered waterfall that flows strongest during and after the rainy season from August to November. The park's forest trails, swimming holes, and picnic areas make it a favorite weekend escape for Bangkok residents and provide vloggers with lush green content that contrasts effectively with urban videos. Entry costs 100 baht for foreigners and 20 baht for Thai nationals. Further east, the Khao Sam Lan National Park offers additional hiking trails through dipterocarp forest with occasional wildlife sightings.
