Koh Chang is Thailand's third-largest island, offering an untouched mix of dense jungle, cascading waterfalls, and relaxed beaches far from the mass tourism circuit.

Koh Chang sits in the eastern Gulf of Thailand just a few kilometers off the coast of Trat Province, covering roughly 217 square kilometers of mountainous jungle terrain. Unlike the southern islands that draw millions each year, Koh Chang has kept its wild character largely intact. The island forms the centerpiece of Mu Ko Chang National Park, which has blocked large-scale resort development across most of the interior. For content creators, this translates into raw, genuine Thailand footage without the backdrop of high-rise condos and tour bus parking lots.

The geography here is surprisingly dramatic for an island. Khao Salak Phet peaks at 744 meters and is blanketed in primary rainforest. Around 70 percent of the island remains untouched jungle, cut through by streams and waterfalls that feed into mangrove estuaries along the east coast. The west coast holds the best beaches: White Sand Beach in the north is the busiest stretch with restaurants, beach bars, and convenience stores lining the road. Klong Prao Beach runs three kilometers and is bisected by a river estuary that creates stunning aerial compositions. Lonely Beach further south pulls in backpackers and digital nomads with bungalows starting at 400 Baht per night and a laid-back bar scene that lights up after dark.

Koh Chang's waterfalls are a major draw for nature and adventure vloggers. Than Mayom Waterfall on the east coast was once a royal rest stop. Kings Rama V and Rama VII carved their initials into the rocks here, which you can still see today. Entry is 200 Baht for foreigners. Klong Plu Waterfall is the largest and most popular, reached via a 20-minute jungle trail. The natural pool at the base is perfect for swimming and delivers ready-made content with minimal effort. Khiri Phet Waterfall in the south sees far fewer visitors and requires a 4WD vehicle or a solid hike to reach, making it ideal for off-the-beaten-path adventure content.
