Chiang Mai Night Bazaar
Chiang Mai's iconic nightly market strip along Chang Klan Road — hill tribe handicrafts, silk, silver jewellery, and Northern Thai street food. The Kalare food court serves some of the city's best khao soi. Open every evening from 18:00; bargaining expected throughout.

About this Place
The Chiang Mai Night Bazaar stretches along Chang Klan Road in the heart of the city and has been a nightly fixture of the Chiang Mai experience for decades. Starting from around 18:00, the pavement fills with hundreds of vendors selling the full spectrum of northern Thai handicrafts: silk scarves and cotton textiles, hand-carved teak woodwork, silverware and hill tribe jewellery, lacquerware, carved soaps, and the hand-painted paper umbrellas that Chiang Mai's Bo Sang village is famous for. Bargaining is expected and part of the fun — opening prices are generally double what the vendor will accept. The Night Bazaar connects to several adjacent market buildings including the Kalare Night Bazaar, which houses a large open-air food court where Northern Thai specialties take centre stage: khao soi (the region's defining coconut-curry noodle soup), sai ua (grilled northern sausage), naem (fermented pork), and larb Mueang in its spicier Chiang Mai style. The Anusarn Market, tucked behind, is known for fresh seafood grills. Live music is a fixture at the outdoor Kalare stage most evenings, ranging from Thai pop to traditional Lanna performance. The atmosphere peaks between 19:00 and 21:00 when the full stretch of Chang Klan Road is closed to traffic and becomes a pedestrian shopping lane. The Night Bazaar is a 15-minute walk east from Tha Phae Gate, making it a natural end to an Old City temple day.
