Na Muang Waterfall
Twin jungle waterfalls in Koh Samui's interior — the purple-tinged Na Muang 1 offers a natural swimming pool after a short walk, while the taller Na Muang 2 rewards a 1.5km jungle hike through dense rainforest.

About this Place
Hidden within Koh Samui's jungle-covered interior, Na Muang comprises two separate waterfalls accessible from the same road in the south-central part of the island, making them easy to combine in a single half-day excursion. Na Muang 1 is the more accessible of the two — a striking 20-metre waterfall with a distinctive purple-violet tinge caused by mineral deposits in the rock. It flows into a natural pool at its base that is popular for cooling off after the short walk from the car park. Na Muang 2 is taller and considerably more dramatic, requiring either a 1.5-kilometre jungle hike through dense tropical vegetation or, regrettably, an elephant ride that ethical travellers should decline. Walk the trail — it takes around 30 minutes and passes through genuine rainforest. Both falls are at their most powerful and photogenic in the months immediately following the rainy season, October through December, when water volume is at its peak. Dry season (March to May) reduces flow significantly. Free parking is available, and there is no admission fee for Na Muang 1. Combine with a motorbike exploration of Samui's scenic interior roads for a rewarding half day away from the beach.
