Wat Phra That Hariphunchai is the most important temple in Lamphun and one of northern Thailands most significant shrines. The 46 m golden chedi dating from 897 AD houses a relic of the Buddha and is surrounded by beautiful gardens. The temple was the religious center of the ancient Mon kingdom of Hariphunchai and preserves artifacts spanning over 1,000 years of history.
