Twin Peaks Viewpoint (John Suwan Rock)
Koh Tao's best summit view — a granite boulder hike to panoramic Gulf of Thailand vistas with Nang Yuan, Koh Phangan, and Koh Samui all visible on clear days.

About this Place
Twin Peaks (John Suwan Rock) is Koh Tao's finest viewpoint — a granite boulder summit on the island's southern tip with panoramic 360° views over the Gulf of Thailand, Nang Yuan island to the north, the island's jungle interior, and clear-day sightings of Koh Phangan and Koh Samui in the distance. The 30–45 minute uphill hike from Chalok Baan Kao Beach crosses through boulder fields and dense jungle. The trail is unmarked — go with a local guide or well-described directions. The sunrise view from Twin Peaks, with mist in the valleys and islands emerging from the sea haze, is one of the most beautiful in the Gulf of Thailand region. Sunset is equally spectacular. Bring water, wear grip shoes (boulders require scrambling), and go with a local or experienced hiking companion. The trail is manageable but steep.
