About this Place

Tham Lot is one of Southeast Asias most impressive through-caves, near Soppong in Mae Hong Son. An underground river flows through the 1.6 km cave, which visitors traverse by bamboo raft. Inside are enormous chambers with stalactites and prehistoric wooden coffins of the Lawa ethnic group. At dusk, the cave entrance offers a natural spectacle as hundreds of thousands of swiftlets and bats exit the cave.
