Khao Chamao — Khao Wong National Park
Seven-tiered waterfalls, wild elephants, gibbons, and rare pheasants inland from Rayong coast — one of eastern Thailand's most rewarding undiscovered parks.

About this Place
Khao Chamao-Khao Wong National Park in Rayong's inland hills is one of eastern Thailand's most rewarding and least-visited nature destinations. The park's centrepiece is a spectacular multi-tiered waterfall — Khao Chamao Waterfall — that cascades through seven levels of forest, each with a clear swimming pool, totalling 200+ metres of falls. The upper tiers require a 3–4 hour return hike through dense forest with excellent wildlife — Asian elephants, gibbons, hornbills, and the rare Siamese fireback pheasant. Trails are well-maintained but strenuous. The waterfall is at its most powerful August–November after rains. The adjacent Khao Wong section has cave systems (Tham Phung Chang) with stalactites. The park headquarters campsite allows overnight stays for the full wildlife experience. Located 65km inland from Rayong coast — a striking contrast to the beach environment. Best combined with a Rayong coast day making an inland-to-coast Rayong loop.
