Si Racha Tiger Zoo & Waterfront
The original home of Sriracha hot sauce — Si Racha's stilted seafood restaurants, Japanese community, and working harbour make it Thailand's most surprising coastal town.

About this Place
Si Racha town on the Gulf coast is best known internationally as the origin of Sriracha hot sauce (though the Thai original differs significantly from the American version), and locally as a Japanese business hub and seafood town. The Si Racha Tiger Zoo houses over 400 Bengal tigers, performing pig racing, crocodile wrestling, and elephant shows — a controversial facility with high visitor numbers but international criticism of animal welfare standards. The Si Racha waterfront along the main pier road offers a more authentic experience: stilted seafood restaurants over the water, fresh morning fish markets at the pier, and ferry connections to Ko Loi island temple (5 minutes). Si Racha's Japanese restaurant street is remarkable — Japan's largest Thai overseas community lives here, creating excellent ramen and izakaya restaurants. The original Thai Sriracha sauce (Shark brand) is available at the local market. A working industrial port with genuine character.
