Bang Saen Beach

Chonburi $ 4.2

Thailand's most popular local beach — millions of Bangkok families visit this 4km shore, but almost no foreign tourists, making it a window into authentic Thai leisure culture.

About this Place

Bang Saen Beach is Thailand's most popular local beach — a 4km grey-sand shore that draws millions of Bangkok residents on weekends and holidays, making it one of the busiest beaches in the country despite having virtually no foreign tourist presence. The beach is backed by a row of seafood restaurants, food vendors, beach chair rentals, and watersports operators. Bang Saen gives a genuine insight into how Thai families spend leisure time at the beach — loud, social, food-focused, and thoroughly enjoyable. The seafood along the beach road is excellent and inexpensive by tourist standards. Bang Saen city has a university campus (Burapha University) creating a young, energetic atmosphere. The nearby Ko Sichang island (ferry from Si Racha) adds an island option. Bang Saen Aquarium (adjacent to the beach) is Thailand's oldest public aquarium. Visit midweek for a more relaxed experience — weekends are chaotically busy.
