Mae Haad Village & Pier
Koh Tao's main pier village — the island's commercial and transport hub with the best restaurants, dive shops, and infrastructure for island living.

About this Place
Mae Haad is Koh Tao's main arrival and commercial hub — the ferry pier village on the west coast where all boats to and from Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, and Chumphon dock. Beyond its transit role, Mae Haad has excellent infrastructure: dive schools, supermarkets, the best restaurants on the island (including Fresh, in a 2-storey wooden building overlooking the bay), ATMs, pharmacies, and motorbike rental. The pier area at sunset is photogenic — wooden longtails moored against the jetty, diving boats preparing for the next morning, and the gentle bustle of island life. Mae Haad's 7-Eleven convenience store marks the junction between the pier road and Sairee Beach to the north. The village has a good selection of mid-range accommodation directly behind the beach — a quieter alternative to the Sairee strip with easy access to all island amenities. Best for night boat arrivals or those preferring central convenience.
