Klai Kangwon Palace
Thailand's royal summer palace on Hua Hin beachfront — a 1926 colonial mansion where King Bhumibol made history, still an active royal residence.

About this Place
Klai Kangwon Palace (meaning 'Far from Worries') is the official summer residence of the Thai royal family, located on the northern end of Hua Hin Beach. Built for King Rama VII in 1926 in an elegant European colonial style with Thai elements, the palace grounds extend to the beachfront. The palace is an active royal residence — King Bhumibol resided here frequently and it was from Klai Kangwon that he granted his approval for the 1932 constitutional revolution that transformed Thailand into a constitutional monarchy. The grounds are closed to the public when royals are in residence; exterior architecture is visible from the beach road. A small public garden area near the gate is accessible. The adjacent Mrigadayavan Palace (Bird of Paradise) in Cha-am is a more visitor-friendly royal palace from the same era.
