Hat Chao Mai National Park

Trang $$ 4.5

Trang's national marine park protecting dugongs, pristine islands, and untouched beaches — Koh Kradan is among Thailand's finest and least-visited islands.

About this Place

Hat Chao Mai National Park protects 231 sq km of coastline, mangroves, seagrass beds, and islands at the heart of Trang's unspoiled archipelago. The park is one of Thailand's last refuges for the dugong — an endangered sea cow that grazes on seagrass in the shallow waters around Koh Libong island. Dugong-spotting boat trips from Libong are among Thailand's rarest wildlife experiences. The park's beaches remain undeveloped by mainland standards — particularly Had Chao Mai beach and the islands of Koh Kradan (voted one of Thailand's most beautiful islands), Koh Cheuk, and Koh Waen. Koh Kradan is accessible by longtail from Pak Meng pier (45 min). Excellent snorkeling and camping. The park headquarters at Pak Meng beach organises longtail tours. A true off-the-beaten-path destination — Trang's isolation from mass tourism keeps it pristine.
