Ancient City (Muang Boran)
The world's largest open-air museum — 116 full-scale replicas of Thailand's historic monuments arranged in a 500-acre park shaped like the Thai map.

About this Place
Ancient City (Muang Boran) is the world's largest open-air museum, a 500-acre park shaped in the same outline as Thailand's map. Within the grounds, 116 full-scale and scaled replicas of Thailand's most important historical monuments are arranged in their approximate geographic positions — from Chiang Mai's Doi Suthep to Ayutthaya's Wat Phra Si Sanphet to the southern peninsula's historic sites. Many replicas were built using original materials and techniques; some represent structures that have since been damaged or lost. Bicycles, electric trams, and golf carts are available to cover the vast grounds. The park took 45 years to complete and represents an extraordinary act of cultural preservation. Particularly valuable for first-time visitors who want an overview of Thai architecture and history, or for families with children. Located 33km from Bangkok's city centre — a 45-minute Skytrain + shuttle ride from central Bangkok. Genuinely impressive and educational.
