Koh Kret is an artificial island in the Chao Phraya River, created by canal construction during the Ayutthaya era. The car-free island is home to an ancient Mon community famous for its traditional pottery craft. On weekends, the island transforms into a large market with Mon specialties, handicrafts, and the famous coconut dessert Khanom Krok. The island is reached by boat from Wat Sanam Nua Pier.
