Railay Beach
Accessible only by longtail boat, Railay's towering limestone cliffs and four distinct beaches — including the sacred Phra Nang Cave — make it Thailand's most dramatic coastal escape. World-class rock climbing, jungle lagoon hikes, and turquoise waters complete the picture.

About this Place
Arguably Thailand's most dramatic beach, Railay is a peninsula accessible only by longtail boat from Ao Nang (15 min). Sheer limestone karst cliffs rise from emerald waters on all sides, making Railay feel like a separate world entirely. The peninsula has four distinct beaches: Railay West with its sunset-facing calm water perfect for swimming, Railay East with mangroves and the main longtail pier, the breathtaking Phra Nang Cave Beach with its sacred spirit house shrine and crystal-clear water, and Tonsai — a favourite of rock climbers and backpackers seeking a more rugged atmosphere. World-class rock climbing routes attract climbers from around the globe, with routes ranging from beginner to expert along the towering karst walls. The lagoon hike through dense jungle rewards adventurous walkers with a hidden saltwater pool accessible via rope climbs. Marine life is abundant for snorkelers. Best visited October through April when seas are calmer and longtail crossings are reliable. Longtail boats depart Ao Nang pier every 15 minutes and also run from Krabi Town at high tide.
