Wat Phra Phutthabat (Temple of the Buddhas Footprint) is one of Thailands most important pilgrimage sites. The temple houses a natural footprint-shaped impression in rock, venerated as a footprint of the Buddha. The magnificent golden mondop protecting the footprint is an architectural jewel. Two major pilgrimage festivals are held annually, attracting hundreds of thousands of devotees.
