Full Moon Party at Haad Rin
Southeast Asia's most famous beach party — up to 30,000 revellers, spectacular fire shows, and all-night music across multiple stages on Haad Rin beach, every month on the night before the full moon.

About this Place
The Full Moon Party at Haad Rin is one of Southeast Asia's most legendary and enduring monthly gatherings, drawing between 10,000 and 30,000 revellers to this southern beach peninsula on the night before every full moon. Fire shows illuminate the shoreline as DJs spin across multiple stages stretching the length of the beach — from deep techno and trance at one end to reggae and hip-hop at the other, ensuring every music preference finds its spot. Buckets of Thai whisky mixed with Red Bull and soda have become the party's unofficial signature drink. Haad Rin occupies a narrow peninsula with two distinct beaches: the party beach, Haad Rin Nok (meaning outer), faces east and gets the full spectacle; the quieter west-facing Haad Rin Nai offers escape from the main event. Ferries run all night between Koh Samui and Haad Rin Pier, with the crossing taking approximately 20 minutes — expect queues in both directions at peak hours. The Half Moon Festival and Black Moon Culture parties are growing alternative events on the calendar. Book accommodation near Haad Rin weeks in advance around full moon dates. Bring waterproof shoes to protect from broken glass, leave valuable items secured at your guesthouse, and carry cash.
