About this Place

Chatuchak Weekend Market — known locally as JJ Market — is one of the largest markets in the world, covering 35 acres with over 15,000 stalls spread across 27 clearly numbered sections. Every conceivable category of goods is here: antique furniture, vintage clothing, ceramics, plants, live animals, handmade jewelry, silk, art, and an overwhelming food court that draws Bangkok's most adventurous eaters. Navigating Chatuchak rewards planning. The market is divided by numbered sections and sois (lanes), with a free pocket map available at the entrance information booths. Sections 2–4 cover clothing and accessories; Sections 7–8 are for ceramics and home decor; Sections 22–26 house the antiques and collectibles. The true highlight for food lovers is Sections 26–27 along the outer perimeter — this is where some of Bangkok's best street food vendors set up, serving boat noodles, grilled pork skewers, mango sticky rice, and freshly pressed sugarcane juice. Arrive before 10:00 to beat the midday heat and secure the best finds — serious shoppers and dealers are there from opening. The market only operates on weekends (Saturday and Sunday), with a smaller Wednesday and Thursday section for plants and flowers. The BTS Skytrain Mo Chit station and MRT Chatuchak Park station both exit directly at the market's north end.
